I may be mistaken, but I really don’t think I am, but I could have sworn the reason gas prices were so high over the past eight years or so was because a Texas oil man was in the white house.
Wasn’t that the story we were told over and over again by the leftist pundits and Senators *cough* MAXINE WATERS *cough* during the Bush presidency.
So what gives? The Department of Energy, created in 1979 to cut back America’s dependency on foreign oil says gas prices are going to go up:
What do they see? $3 gallons of gas in the U.S. This isn’t much of a jump from today’s national average – and it’s quite a drop from the highs of summer 2008 – but it could forecast some tough times ahead for people with gas-hungry vehicles. For all of 2010, the EIA’s “Short-Term Energy Outlook” is predicting that gas will cost $2.84 per gallon. In 2011, this will jump to $2.96 per gallon. Diesel fuel, too, will apparently cost more in the coming years. The average in 2009 was $2.46 per gallon. Looking ahead, the EIA sees $2.98 average prices in 2010 and $3.14 in 2011.
Remember this:
When the world hears her commitment at her inauguration about ending American dependence on foreign fuel, Clinton says, oil-pumping countries will lower prices to stifle America’s incentive to develop alternative energy.
“I predict to you, the oil-producing countries will drop the price of oil,” Clinton said, speaking at the Manchester YWCA. “They will once again assume, once the cost pressure is off, Americans and our political process will recede.”
Clinton argued that former President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s actually started moving in the right direction toward energy independence, but his successor, Ronald Reagan, “dismantled” that work.
If the American people rejected Hillary and chose a greener candidate who is even more dedicated to destroying the oil industry, you would think the oil producing countries would have dropped the price of oil down to a nickel a quart.
Funny how that hasn’t happened yet. It’s probably just a matter of time.
