McCrystal Sees Taliban Role in Afghan Gov., In Other News, Taliban Decapitate Six

After spending the blood, treasure and time to rid Afghanistan of the scourge of the Taliban, Gen. Stanley McCrystal has joined with President Barack Obama in saying there may be room for the Taliban in the government:

By using the reinforcements to create an arc of secure territory stretching from the Taliban’s southern heartlands to Kabul, Gen McChrystal aims to weaken the insurgency to the point where its leaders would accept some form of settlement with Afghanistan’s government.

“As a soldier, my personal feeling is that there’s been enough fighting,” he said. “What I think we do is try to shape conditions which allow people to come to a truly equitable solution to how the Afghan people are governed.”

Asked if he would be content to see Taliban leaders in a future government in Kabul, he said: “I think any Afghans can play a role if they focus on the future, and not the past.”

That’s our Islamic radicals. Always looking to the future, not the past…

Meanwhile:

Intelligence officials and residents say militants killed six Pakistani men in the country’s lawless northwestern tribal region for allegedly spying for the US. The officials say the bodies of five men who had been fatally shot were found Sunday on the outskirts of Miran Shah, the main town in North Waziristan.

A resident, Razaullah Wazir, says authorities found the body of a sixth man who had been beheaded near Mir Ali, another town in North Waziristan. The officials and Wazir say the bodies were accompanied by notes saying the men were killed for working as US spies.

When you figure out how to get these folks to “focus on the future, and not the past,” you will have won the war. Until then, they are going to keep killing infidels in the most barbaric way they can.

Do McCrystal and Obama think there will be peace in Afghanistan if the Talibans will be allowed to take part in the Afghan government? Will this solve the problem of Talibans killing people or will it become worse? I believe the latter will happen. If the Talibans are killing people in a barbaric way when do not yet have any control of the government, the more that they are going to do it if they are already part of the government.
