Today's Defensive Use of Firearms Brought to You By Buckeye, AZ

Every 13 seconds:

Police say that the concealed carry permit holder was in a parking lot near 195th Avenue and Indian School Road when 4 males in their late teens or early twenties approached him and attacked with a baseball bat. After being hit several times in the head and arms, the concealed carry permit holder is said to have drawn and fired his handgun, striking one of the attackers and causing all four of them to flee. Police are seeking the suspects, and the concealed carry permit holder was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

There is either no sense in the attack, or there is more to the story. Either way, the gun owner is alive because the Founding Fathers understood the need to protect oneself with firearms and guaranteed our right to bear arms.

This was the exact situation the Second Amendment was created for. Thomas Jefferson understood that:

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms..disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one.” – Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria, Criminologist in 1764.

But this wasn’t the only reason the Founders put it in there:

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.-Thomas Jefferson

Pray that day never comes. But buy ammo.

  1. More people need to be educated. If we fail to defend our rights we will lose the ability to defend ourselves. The founders understood this and gave us the ability to do both. Great post I put it up on Stumbleupon.

  3. But, but, but, Duane, couldn’t he have just reasoned with the assailants? After all it is never to late to negotiate. I’ll bet he was better educated and had a better start in life than his assailants. Why not give them money and make them go away? Did you mention the race of these young men? No doubt they were frustrated minorities, tired of being held down by The Man. He didn’t need to resort to violence.

  7. He would of been in big trouble if he would of had one of the guns that the Founding Fathers were thinking of when they wrote that.

    Prepare to load.
    Load.
    Rod.
    Home.
    Return.
    Cap.
    Shoot.
