Another Reason Not to Take a Cruise, Video of 30 Ft. Wave Crashing Into Ship

I have friends who take cruises. They say they are great. My parents talk about taking an Alaska cruise. There was a time my wife even talked of going on a cruise.

After five years in the Navy, three of which I served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), I can’t see myself getting on a ship for a vacation. Nothing about walking a gangplank sounds relaxing.

Then, there’s this:

Passengers on board a cruise ship that was hit by monstrous waves in the Mediterranean described scenes of pandemonium as water shattered windows and poured through the vessel. Two passengers, a German and an Italian, died, and a spokesman for the ship’s owner, Louis Cruise Lines, said they had been killed by flying glass and moving furniture when the waves hit on Wednesday. The spokesman said 14 other passengers suffered minor injuries.

Take a cruise? I don’t think so. You know when this happened they were looking for former junior enlisted to grab a swab.
