Couple Flees Trailer Fire, Forgets To Bring Boy

There are some things, in the midst of a crisis, that one could be expected to forget. Your high school locker combination, where you left your keys, whose turn it is to do the dishes. Your four year old son isn’t one of them.

The 4-year-old boy was treated for smoke inhalation after a firefighter ran inside and pulled him out, township Fire Chief Bill Brucker said.

Police said the firefighters learned that the boy was still inside the burning mobile home about 20 minutes after Chandler and Adams had already gotten out, when the two allegedly told firefighters that they had forgotten the child.

They didn’t forget their pets, though. Evidently, they had more invested in the animals than the child.

Crystal Adams, 31, and James Chandler, 33, are accused of reckless endangerment, because police say the two grabbed their pet dogs and fled the fire at Center Manor Court but left Chandler’s young son behind on Friday night.

According to the local Fire Chief, the couple was asked several times if there was anyone else in the home. It took 20 minutes for the couple to remember they had a son. Fire Chief Brucker made a good point:

“You tuck your kid in bed, you should remember that he’s still in there,” Brucker said.

As a parent myself, I’m thinking, if you give birth, spend four years providing for the little tyke, and tuck him in bed, you should remember he’s still in there. But I’m sure those dogs were important.

Keep that tattoo covered!

extreme_body_mod.jpg
Can I borrow A Cup of Sugar?

There are plenty of people in the United States who say, this is my body, I have the right to do with it what I want. Abortion, sexual promiscuity, cosmetic surgeries, piercings, tattoos. Obviously, not all of them carry the same weight, but all have some stigma attached. Despite this, for the most part America has granted people the ability to engage in these activities as they desire. Some of these same people, however, would then turn around and deny others the ability to make decisions regarding their own property. For example, a landlord should be able to rent to whomsoever he chooses- it is his own building.

Frankel e-mailed us a statement saying his apartment complexes do, in fact, “reject prospective tenants who have… tattoos exposed on the neck, head, hands and wrists, or large tattoos that cover over 40% of the lower or upper arm.”

Frankel says, “We do not discriminate. The above applies to persons of any race, color, gender, etc.”

Frankel, and his partners, have purchased numerous upscale apartment complexes in San Antonio and Dallas, where they’ve also banned pierced eyebrows and tongues. Tenants can’t have more than one nose piercing, or more than five earrings.

People choose to get tattoos and piercings, they aren’t born that way. If they feel that they can’t comply with the landlord’s policies, they can find another place to live. Instead, they decide to make a big issue of it, going to the media to complain and cry discrimination.

“For them to be so judgmental on a person’s appearance, and for them to judge someone based on them having a tattoo is just ridiculous, you know,” says Melissa.

He’s just exercising his right to do what he wants with his own property. You exercised the “right” to use your body as a coloring book; he just wants undecorated tenants. You keep your tats, he rents to someone else, we’re all happy. Luckily for this landlord, the law in San Antonio agrees.

Local fair housing officials say the rules may be unusual, but they are not illegal.

“Refusing to rent to somebody because they have tattoos may be unfair, but it’s not discrimination under the fair housing act, unless the tattoos are specific to the person’s religion or national origin,” says Sandy Tamez of the San Antonio Fair Housing Council.

Homosexuals Attack "The Last Supper" in Promo Poster

What could have motivated this advertisement?

A taxpayer-supported “gay” celebration in San Francisco, featuring a poster portraying Jesus Christ and his disciples as “half-naked homosexual sadomasochists,” has come under heavy fire from major Christian groups demanding that California lawmakers condemn it.

The poster by organizers of the Folsom Street Fair, sponsored in part by Miller Brewing, replaces the bread and wine representing Christ’s blood and body with sadomasochistic sex toys

I can think of two things:

  1. Homosexuals as militant as this see religion as a persecutor and want to strike out at it in the most painful way possible, in order to hurt Christians.
  2. It is great publicity and will rally supprot from other militant homosexuals.

So what is this thing, this Folsom Street Fair, they are promoting with this Christ hating poster? It’s website called it the “The grand daddy of all leather events”. Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues with Concerned Women for America, has a different view:

“The most unimaginable and vile acts of debauchery are commonplace during the fair,” Barber said.

“Senator Larry Craig was arrested and driven out of the Senate for allegedly soliciting public ‘gay’ sex, yet during this event the city of San Francisco suspends the law and allows ‘gay’ men and women to parade the streets fully nude, many having sex – even group orgies – in broad daylight, while taxpayer-funded police officers look on and do absolutely nothing.”

I thought he was being a little over the top, so I looked for a second opinion. here is a liberal source, and one that has a front row seat, The San Francisco Chronicle:

The balmy weather was a good thing, considering all the naked people.

Many of those who opted for clothes did so not out of modesty or necessity, but because their raiments expressed an intense personal interest of one kind or another.

“My particular fetish is uniforms,” said Robert Green, who was outfitted in a Los Angeles police officer’s uniform that was true in every detail, except that it was fabricated from leather.

Green, a Los Angeles resident, described the event “as a combination freak show and simple excuse for people to just come together and enjoy their fetishes.”

GREAT SCOTT!!

It isn’t homophobia that makes me hate this. It’s decency, consideration and good taste.

Here’s a tip to these folks over at the Folsom Street Fair: not every Christian is a member of the Westoboro Baptist Church and stunts like this don’t help Christians tolerate your behavior. If what Matt Barber says is true, that the Fair involves public sex, that is not going to help your promotion of the homosexual agenda.

Granted, I am a fairly tolerant person. I have said before that I don’t care what two consenting adults do in private, just keep it off of my lawn. This type of thing is outrageous and unnecessary. It isn’t going to make your lifestyle any more acceptable to people. It will be more polarizing than anything.

Basically what I am saying is, stop forcing your agenda on people. It just angers them.

And, by the way, don’t drink Miller Lite. For one, they are sponsoring this Fair and therefore, this poster, and two,

Rolling Rock is so much better. Treat yourself right.

Laura Bush Puts Mahmoud in his Place

Yet another reason I like the first lady:

First Lady Laura Bush coolly brushed past the face of evil yesterday, giving Iran’s notoriously chauvinistic president the silent treatment en route to her husband’s speech at the United Nations.

Bespectacled blowhard Mahmoud Ahmadinejad glanced up at the first lady – apparently hoping to make eye contact with the wife of his No. 1 enemy – as she climbed past his aisle seat 14 rows back from the podium at the General Assembly session.

But Mrs. Bush merely placed her right hand on the edge of his desk to steady herself on the stairs without looking up, and continued to her seat. The despondent despot immediately lowered his head again.

Nicely done, madam.

Ahmadinejad and the Moral Equivalence Leftist

Iran is an Islamic theocracy. It is ruled by Islamic law. Homosexuals are flogged or hanged, just for being homosexual. Public hangings are not all that uncommon. Neither are honor killings or stonings.

Iran is also training people in Iraq to more effectively kill our military. They are supplying the bombs. They support Hezbollah, which kills Jewish children without remorse.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran. He knows this goes on and allows it.

Now consider this message from the left, as written by Michelle Malkin:

Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi, an Iranian-born activist whose dissident journalist father is jailed in her homeland, was appalled at the ignorance and moral equivalence of the leftists who paraded in front of the TV cameras with their Bush-is-a-terrorist paraphernalia. A few goons held a large banner that read: “Ahmadinejad is bad. Bush is worse.” (emphasis mine.)

Really. I am trying to come to grips with this idea. I can’t decide if it is stupidity, ignorance or just blind hatred of President Bush. It is, well, I don’t know how to even describe it. These are the people you avoid talking to, because nothing you say can penetrate the thick layer of leftist propaganda that smothers their logic. I pity them, and loathe them at the same time.

This gentleman, however, gets it:

Rabbi Avi Weiss, a Jewish Orthodox leader from the Bronx, gets it. Standing amid a small but sturdy sea of “Hitler lives” and “Never forget” placards, Rabbi Weiss told me: “The First Amendment means you have the right to invite in the arch-terrorists of the world. It doesn’t mean that you are obligated to do so — especially when this whole visit was initiated by the Iranian mission, and Iranian missions around the world are known to have fomented and orchestrated in the communities where they are.” Instead of being feted, Rabbi Weiss said, “this man, who is responsible for contributing to the killing of American troops in Iraq, should be served with papers and hauled into court.” (emphasis mine.)

This message is lost on the leftists present at the speech. Why? Anyone who would hold a sign saying Bush is worse that the modern day Hitler hates the military. I don’t say that lightly. I don’t say that without merit. They have shown a contempt for the military in their statements and actions. Our military has been protested in America by groups like this. Groups like this will not only turn a blind eye to Ahmadinejad’s support of the terrorists in Iraq, they will help him justify it. America needs to see these people for the America haters they really are and see their agenda.

it is hard to excuse the person who is more upset with Lee Bollinger’s challenging of the Iranian tyrant, than they are with the tyrant himself:

On my train ride home from Mahmoudapalooza, I spoke briefly with a Columbia University grad steeped in the Ivy League haze of non-judgment. She was upset and embarrassed — not by Columbia president Lee Bollinger’s bone-headed decision to legitimize Ahmadinejad at its World Leaders Forum. No, she was mortified that Bollinger had delivered his face-saving introduction challenging Ahmadinejad.

With childlike naivete, this Columbia alum told me: “I’m frightened by the polarity.” Which about sums up the majority view of academia and the Ahmadinejad excusers on the left: They are more afraid of standing up and calling out evil than losing the West, their country and their own lives to it.

You can excuse this as the ignorance of youth, but ask yourself this: where did she learn it?

John Stossel Looks at "Our Crazy Health-Insurance System"

This article is a great look at the history of our health care system and how we got to where we are now. It also makes us look at what we consider normal.

Imagine if your car insurance covered oil changes and gasoline. You wouldn’t care how much gas you used, and you wouldn’t care what it cost. Mechanics would sell you $100 oil changes. Prices would skyrocket.

That’s how it works in health care. Patients don’t ask how much a test or treatment will cost. They ask if their insurance covers it. They don’t compare prices from different doctors and hospitals. (Prices do vary.) Why should they? They’re not paying. (Although they do in hidden, indirect ways.)

In the end, we all pay more because no one seems to pay anything. It’s why health insurance is not a good idea for anything but serious illnesses and accidents that could bankrupt you. For the rest, we should pay out of our savings.

Good points.

Illegal Immigrant Assaults Police Officer to Avoid Fingerprinting

This clown gets hauled in for assault on a woman and when he sees the fingerprinting machine, he freaks:

“The officer said he had a concerned look and started speaking quickly in Portuguese,” said Shastany. “He suddenly fell to the ground, snorting, and his arms were flailing. He was arching his back and we has kicking wildly in an apparent desperate medical condition.”

Paramedics came to the police station as officers tried to calm the man down and they determined he needed no medical attention.

So the medics declare malingering, so the next best thing to do:  assault a cop.  That’s a sure fix:

“He grabbed Officer (Phil) Hurton’s arm and started squeezing it hard and Hurton wasn’t able to break his grasp,” Shastany said. It took four officers to get him to release Hurton, who was bloodied.

Finally they get this guy printed, they find out he’s an illegal alien and, he’s got a warrant out for him.

Not a good day for Flavio DeSouza-Marinho.

Sarkozy: "…allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons would mean an unacceptable risk…"

And the Assembly applauded him:

French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the General Assembly here Tuesday that a nuclear-armed Iran would mean “an unacceptable risk for regional and world stability.”

nicolassarkozy.jpg“Iran has the right to have nuclear energy,” he told fellow world leaders at the General Assembly’s 62nd session here. “But allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons would mean an unacceptable risk for regional and world stability.”

Sarkozy added there would be no world peace if the international community “shows weakness in the face of the proliferation of nuclear weapons.”

Chavez Gets Spacey

See, now this is too bad. I hate it when actors I like turn out to be leftist knuckleheads:

Actor Kevin Spacey met privately Monday with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, one of Washington’s most outspoken critics in Latin America.

Neither Spacey who has won Academy Awards for roles in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty” nor Chavez spoke to the press after the nearly three-hour encounter in the presidential palace in Caracas. They shook hands warmly on the red carpet as Spacey left after a dinner with Chavez.

What is it about Hollywood that makes people fall into this daydream that socialism is all fluffy bunnies and cotton candy? This is disappointing.

Staples Goes Green

Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS), the world’s largest office products company, along with the City of Miami and MK Real Estate Group, will host a groundbreaking event for Miami’s first green retail building registered with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

There is an impressive list of benefits that comes from building “green,” both to the environment and to the store- energy and water saving technology will undoubtedly save them a ton of cash in the long run. I always like to see people using products made from recycled materials as well; it keeps the landfills from expanding and saves the natural resources for other uses. I have a bit of difficulty figuring out the logistics of one of their ideas, though.

Encourage alternative transportation by installing bike racks and showers

If you ride your bike to Staples, and take along a change of clothing, soap, and towel, you’re already pretty loaded down. Where will you carry your staples? And where do you buy a bike basket large enough to hold, say, a computer, or an office desk? Maybe they’ll provide the soap and towels- will the soap be organic and non-toxic, and won’t washing and drying all those towels from extra showers cancel out the benefits of riding your bike there in the first place?

At least it will give Miami’s freegan population somewhere to get clean for free.

Ahmadinejad On 60 Minutes

iranpres.jpgIranian President Mahmoud I’m-a-demon-jad was on 60 Minutes last night. Scott Pelley handled the interview very well, and even refrained from punching the bastard in the face.

Pelley asked “What were you thinking. The World Trade Center site is the most sensitive place in the American heart. And you must have known that visiting there would be insulting to many many Americans”.

Ahmadinejad’s response was that they are against killing and plots to sew discord. And then he says, “Usually you go to these sites to pay your respects…. and also to perhaps air your views about the root causes of such incidents. I think that when I do that I will be paying, as I said earlier, my respects to the American nation.”

So the leader of a terrorist nation, who has American blood on his hands, wants to visit the site of the 9/11 terrorist site at the World Trade Center and air his views about the root causes of such incidents. And this is how he pays respect to America.

Pelley goes on to basically say that Ahmadinejad had to know that if he were to visit ground zero, it would really piss a lot of Americans off. Ahmadinejad replies by saying that Pelley is only a reporter and can’t possibly speak for the whole nation. He goes on to say, “I like to think that the point of view of the American people are very close to the point of view of the Iranian people”.

Let me send the message out to Ahmadinejad right now. You have no idea what the average American thinks. When Iranian bombs are killing American soldiers, it pisses us off. We don’t like you Mr. President. Just having you in our country pisses us off.

Ahmadinejad is a slimy double talking son-of-a-bitch. You really have to watch this whole interview. You can see it here.
