He was the first to think of adding eggs with cheese and Canadian bacon, putting it all on a butter English muffin, and selling it to a hungry commuting America.

Godspeed, Herb Peterson:

Peterson died peacefully Tuesday at his Santa Barbara home, said Monte Fraker, vice president of operations for McDonald’s restaurants in that city.

He began his career with McDonald’s Corp. as vice president of the company’s advertising firm, D’Arcy Advertising, in Chicago. He wrote McDonald’s first national advertising slogan, “Where Quality Starts Fresh Every Day.”

Peterson eventually became a franchisee and was currently co-owner and operator of six McDonald’s restaurants in Santa Barbara and Goleta, Fraker said.

Peterson came up with idea for the signature McDonald’s breakfast item in 1972. He “was very partial to eggs Benedict,” Fraker said, and worked on creating something similar.

I think I’ll grab one on my way home tomorrow, in honor of his originality and contribution to America’s way of life.

Another Phony War Hero Convicted

Phony Hero? PHONY HERO??!?!

Why, this is an outrage! They can’t call them that. Even if he is a phony hero:

A North Carolina man, who claimed he saw years of combat and earned medals, including the Purple Heart, was found guilty this week of peddling a false military record in order to collect thousands in soldier disability payments.

Randall Moneymaker, of Clayton, N.C., claimed he had served as an Army Ranger on tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Panama and Grenada and had earned medals and badges of honor.

But, according to federal investigators, Moneymaker was a fraud who spent only a short time in the Army, was given a less than honorable discharge and never saw any combat.

Hmm…seems like this guy was a phony hero. Good thing Rush didn’t say it. People might have actually heard about it then.

I wonder if Congress is going to send a letter to ABC condemning them for smearing our troops.

At what point did we lose it? There was a time in this country, when we believed that we were responsible for ourselves, and if we made it, we made it on our own. And if we failed, we failed on our own.

Those days are long gone.

Barack Obama wants to take $30 billion from Americans who earned it, and give it to people who made poor investment choices, and lost money:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama called for greater government regulation of the U.S. financial system on Thursday and proposed a new $30 billion economic stimulus plan to help homeowners.

To help homeowners? I’m a homeowner. I don’t want your damn help!

Or does he mean the home owners who speculated in the home market, and lost money when the market tanked? The people who signed loans they knew had ARMs when they didn’t even have JOBs? The people who bought WAY over their heads? Yeah, we responsible tax payers have to subsidize these guys, so no one fails.

“If we can extend a hand to banks on Wall Street when they get into trouble, we can extend a hand to Americans who are struggling through no fault of their own,” Obama said to applause.

I’ll bet they applauded. Like lemmings and drones, I bet they let loose with applause. But it doesn’t take much with Obamatons. They cheer when he blows his nose. Really.

Newsflash for Barack: We should not be handing federal tax dollars over to Wall Street, or anyone else. We should not be giving money for global AIDS research, or food for Zimbabwe, or even relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

That is not the role of the federal government.

Protect my rights from foreign invaders and criminals. That’s it. And they are not doing those right.

Predatory Lenders, you say? I don’t think they exist. I have not read an article where a lender put a gun to someone’s head and made them borrow money. If you have that story, send it to me.

Where does Barack plan to get $30 billion from anyway? From you and me.

I repeat:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury.

We are looking at the enemy of America, and it is us. Something Lincoln said is pertinent here also:

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

We refuse to see the truth. We are destroying ourselves with this dependence on the federal government.

The Russian Bear.

First they buzz an aircraft carrier, then they try it again. Now the Russians are pushing their luck off the coast of Alaska:

Two U.S. Air Force F-15s escorted two Russian Bear long-range bombers out of an air exclusion zone off the coast of Alaska, U.S. military officials said Wednesday.

U.S. radar picked up the Russian turbo-prop Tupolev-95 planes about 500 miles off the Alaska coast.

The U.S. fighters from Elmendorf Air Force Base were dispatched to meet the bombers and escorted them out of the area without incident, the officials said.

Should we start to be concerned about this yet? Nope. Nothing to see here:

Meanwhile, U.S. military officials say the incidents are not a concern. They say it’s the Russian military flexing its ability and presence.

The Heartland Institute recently concluded the first International Conference on Climate Change, where global warming was discussed, debated and debunked. This conference was a problem for sixth grade science teacher Michael Steria at David A. Brown Middle School in Wildomar, California. So much of a problem that he took class time to have his students write letters to the Heartland Institute to tell them how evil they are.

It seems the children read ten whole articles which described the certain doom that global warming created, and were encouraged to write the Heartland Institute and express their concern. The Heartland Institute published the letters online (pdf), protecting the identities of the students by blacking out their last names in a very CIA-esque style.

Perhaps rather than filling the children’s minds with environmentalist propaganda, they should spend a little more time in English class:

• “I think your fools for denying G.W. you know it could kill us all & you’re just adding to it. I want you to help stop G.W. not increase it.”
• “We feel that it is wrong what you are doing. We know that you know that global warming is NOT we repeat NOT a myth, And we think it is selfish that you would take money over yours and your peers lives.”
• “I do not think that what you are doing is right because you are telling people that global warming is not a crisis. If this is not a crisis, how come floods have occurred in asia, Mexico, and India. Plus, how can you explain why the glacier glaciers are melting. they can’t melt themselves, because they are in the coldest region in the world.”
• “We feel that they are destroying our planet by saying G.W. is not a crisis. You think GW is not a crisis but it is; you know deep down that it’s a real thing that’s happening. Everyone has a part in helping GW, and you’re making worse.”

What gives the state the right to tell me how to build my house, my barn, my sewer? If I want to live in a falling down, patched up, pile of tin, like my neighbors do, that’s my business. If I want to spend millions of dollars and live in a palace, that’s my choice. If I want to live in a sturdy, soundly constructed home that just happens to have no electricity or plumbing, and requires that I run out to the outhouse whenever I feel the urge, that should also be my right. My land is my land, and the government should not be able to come in and tell me how to build, where to build, what to build, or who can build. Robert Mugabe, the genius presiding over Zimbabwe and it’s ten million dollar loaves of bread, is up to his old tricks again.

The government last year ordered prices to be reduced, leading to widespread shortages. Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate is 100,000% – the world’s highest.

The state-owned Herald newspaper reports that Mr Mugabe has ordered business leaders to attend a meeting with government officials.

“We want them to reduce prices to those which were in effect before the salary hike,” he said.

He said that anyone who refused to co-operate would be nationalised, through the new Indigenisation and Empowerment Act, under which businesses are supposed to be majority-owned by black Zimbabweans. [BBC NEWS]

Force business owners to sell at a loss or lose the business… what could possibly go wrong? We’ve spent plenty of time talking about Zimbabwe before. Mugabe is ruining his country.

An airline pilot’s gun fired on a plane this weekend, and no one knows why yet.

Well, I know why. Negligence:

The “accidental discharge” Saturday aboard Flight 1536 from Denver to Charlotte did not endanger the aircraft or the 124 passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants aboard, said Greg Alter of the Federal Air Marshal Service on Monday.

“We know that there was never any danger to the aircraft or to the occupants on board,” Alter said.

Where I come from, there are no “accidental discharges.” There are “negligent discharges.” For a gun to be in a position to go off, the owner has not fully accepted the responsibility of possessing that gun. This airline pilot should be disciplined, and possibly retrained, but I don’t think he’ll make this mistake again.

The fact is that almost 50% of airline pilots are ex-military and trained to handle weapons. The other pilots in the program will without a doubt be briefed on it, will learn from this mistake, and will take a look at how they are carrying their weapons.

But one thing this incident has already brought out of the woodwork are the gun-grabbers who hate the idea of a pilot having a gun. I heard the radio news interviewing people who were against the program and didn’t see any reason for a pilot to have a gun.

I can think of a few.

So far this morning, I have seen more than enough headlines claiming Hillary misspoke about her trip to Bosnia. Before we get started let’s define what misspoke means:

1. transitive verb pronounce incorrectly: to pronounce something incorrectly
2. mis·speak your·self vr express yourself unclearly: to speak or express yourself in a way that is inappropriate, inaccurate, or unclear

So we are being told that Hillary simply expressed herself “unclearly.” Do you believe that for a second? The impression we are being given is that she mistakenly described this trip inaccurately. Maybe it’s just me, but if I have to run from a plane to a car because a sniper might shoot me, I think that is something I would remember clearly.

Then we have this from Sweetness & Light:

In a rare move, Clinton took questions from reporters in Eldridge.

A reporter told her that rival Democrat Barack Obama has suggested that her foreign policy experience amounts to having tea with foreign leaders and that Democrat Christopher Dodd said her experience is akin to first lady Laura Bush’s: witnessing experience, not having it.

Clinton responded that she’s happy to talk about her experience in 80 countries, from working for peace in Northern Ireland to standing up for women’s rights in Beijing.

Later in Dubuque, Clinton told a crowd of about 600 that as first lady, she represented America in “places that oftentimes were not necessarily a place a president could go.”

“We used to say in the White House that if a place was too dangerous, too small or too poor, send the first lady,” she said.

She said she was the first high-profile American to go into Bosnia after the peace accord was signed.

“We landed in one of those corkscrew landings and ran out because they said there might be sniper fire. I don’t remember anyone offering me tea on the tarmac there.”

So now are we suppose to believe that she has simply been misspeaking every time she talks about her foreign policy credentials?

She is lying, plain and simple. Her problem may be that Bill lied so much and got away with it, that she thinks it’s just how things are done. After all, she is basing her whole campaign on his presidency. The problem with that is that Bill’s a better liar, and a lot more likable.

I’m sorry. Politicians don’t lie, they “misspeak.” Between Barack saying he never heard Rev. Dr. Wright say any of those controversial sermons, to Hillary’s claim of being on the front lines in Serbia, the Democrats are “misspeaking” quite a bit this campaign.

What was that about change again?

International A.N.S.W.E.R. is nothing more than a front for pro-communism World Worker’s Party:

Officially, the organizer of the Washington demonstration was International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism). But ANSWER is run by WWP activists, to such an extent that it seems fair to dub it a WWP front. Several key ANSWER officials — including spokesperson Brian Becker — are WWP members. Many local offices for ANSWER’s protest were housed in WWP offices. Earlier this year, when ANSWER conducted a press briefing, at least five of the 13 speakers were WWP activists. They were each identified, though, in other ways, including as members of the International Action Center.

The IAC, another WWP offshoot, was a key partner with ANSWER in promoting the protest. It was founded by Ramsey Clark, attorney general for President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s.

The IAC is actually listed in the “Links” section of the World Worker’s Party website.

Code: Pink is another bunch of pro-communist knuckleheads trying to hurt America and its military:

Unless you travel in Marxist circles or work for the FBI or CIA, the names of the Code Pink moms may not ring a bell with you, though you’ve probably been reading news reports about their collective exploits for years. In the wake of their war against capitalism and self-determination, they’ve left a trail of anarchy and destruction that has cost property owners, corporations and consumers millions of dollars.

Naturally, they’ve toned their Marxist rhetoric down for their stint with Code Pink. Though they’ve taken great pains to differentiate themselves from the other, more radical anti-war protesters, they are one and the same. The leaders of Code Pink didn’t merely take part in the Washington and San Francisco protests that made international headlines – they also organized them. In the process, they’ve provided a rare public glimpse of the faces behind the modern, highly organized American Marxist movement. Needless to say, these women have little in common with the carpool moms of America.

At the center of Code Pink is legendary leftist organizer Medea Benjamin, the 50-year-old mother of two widely credited as a chief organizing force behind the 1999 Seattle riots in which 50,000 protesters did millions of dollars worth of property damage in their effort to shut down meetings of the World Trade Organization.

These people have been literally waging a domestic war against our military for over a year. They have attacked recruiting stations with the intent of hamstringing the military so they cannot function. Move America Forward has detailed their behavior in “The Sedition Report.”

The protests they have staged have resulted in arrests. Those arrests have resulted in accusations of fascism. This stupidity illustrates the reason they are called “Useful Idiots.”

If they wanted to see the face of fascism, the face of totalitarianism, the face of real police brutality, they need to look to the East, to the Communist state of China.

Around 130 people have been confirmed killed in a Chinese crackdown on protests and unrest in Tibet, the prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile told AFP on Monday.

“This figure is from our sources in Tibet. The verifiable number is about 130 in entire Tibet,” Samdhong Rinpoche said in Dharamshala in northern India, the base of exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

The new toll is a jump from the figure of 99 confirmed deaths provided by the government-in-exile last week.

Protest in America, you might get arrested. Protest in China, you might be killed in the street.

Following an anti-war protest in Brussels, a NATO official said, “”Demonstrations are a feature of democracy. All we hope for with any such protest is that it is done in a peaceful and safe manner,”

Following the Tibetan protests for freedom in China, the communist rulers “vowed to ‘resolutely crush’ the ‘Tibet independence forces…”

“Resolutely crush.”

Welcome to communism. While these communist run anti-war rallies continue to try to disrupt the military and its organizers try to turn average Americans into collectivists, they ignore, deny or justify the true abuses of power displayed by every communist country in history, from the Soviet Gulag, to Tibetan protesters.

Soon they will be mimicking the latest hero of the American left, Hugo Chavez, in blaming the United States for China’s actions:

Venezuela’s socialist President Hugo Chavez blamed the United States for violent protests in Tibet during the last two weeks that he said were aimed at trying to destabilize China.

In comments reported by his press office on Sunday, Chavez said the protests were an example of the U.S. “empire” “going against China” and trying to divide the Asian powerhouse.

For the left, the only evil is capitalism and individuality. The United States is the largest symbol of that on Earth, and is therefore the left’s biggest enemy. They are so invested in the idea, they refuse to believe that socialism or communism has ever even been tried before.

Despite the historical evidence of communism’s inherent violence and personal destruction, they refuse to turn from Marx’s collectivist dream. They are less overt about their goals today, but they are the same as they ever were: turn the United States from capitalism and freedom, to communism and collectivism.

Only then will they see what true government oppression looks like, from the bottom of a blood soaked boot.

I would be so angry with these clowns, I would need another mass just to ask the Lord to calm me down. There are places to protest and there are places to respect. Sunday mass on Easter morning is not the place to protest:

“Catholic Schoolgirls Against the War?” There are a couple guys in that group. What kind of freaky club is this?

Seriously, these anti-war jackasses have no respect for you, our country, our culture or our military. They want you to believe that they support the troops and the best way to support them is to bring them home.

To prove that point, they will disrespect you, your culture, our country and fight for the withdrawal of our military, essentially telling the enemy we have no heart and they won. You can try to spin it, but that will be the perspective of the enemy.

These six look like a bunch of kids with big bleeding hearts and no concept of what the enemy is, or even who the enemy is. They probably see George Bush as the real enemy. That is why they are referred to as “Useful Idiots.” They help the enemy and think they are doing the right thing.

I bet they think Che Guevara was a great revolutionary too.

I went to each presidential candidate’s website today, researching where they stood on a subject I plan on covering this next week.

I noticed something else.

On each site, only John McCain took the time to say “Happy Easter.” I like that. Thank you, Sen. and Mrs. McCain. Happy Easter to you.
