Civil Rights Panel Investigates…The Obama Justice Department

In November I posted a news report of two Black Panther party members intimidating voters in Philadelphia.

In August, I talked about how the Obama Administration won the case against them, but then inexplicably dropped the case. I wrote then, “I would like to hear why this was just dropped, but I get the feeling the Justice Department’s response would be similar to me eating a small McDonald’s Sundae: it’s nice to have, but not really that satisfying.”

It turns out, I’m not the only one who wants some answers on this:

The United States Civil Rights Commission, an eight-member agency that investigates accusations of discrimination, has launched a new offensive against a most unusual target: the Justice Department.

The commission is investigating why the Justice Department dropped charges in May against three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in a voter intimidation case that the government won.

The Justice Department has defended its actions, saying it obtained an injunction against one member while dismissing charges against the others “based on a careful assessment of the facts and the law.”

But that explanation hasn’t satisfied the commission or Republican lawmakers, who say the dismissal could lead to an escalation of voter intimidation.

Anyone else find it ironic that the US Civil Rights Commission has to investigate a Justice Department headed by a black Attorney General, appointed by a black President.

It was my understanding we were living in a post racial America.

Perhaps Holder didn’t get that memo.

Obama Supporters Are Coming To

More and more, people who saw the future of America in the vapid words and empty rhetoric of Barack Obama are starting to see what so many of us saw before: it’s all show.

Michael Goodwin at the New York Post is one of those people:

200912202101.jpgWatching the freak show in Copenhagen last week, I was alternately furious and filled with dread. The world has gone absolutely bonkers and lunatics are in charge.

Mugabe and Chavez are treated with respect and the United Nations is serious about wanting to regulate our industry and transfer our wealth to kleptocrats and genocidal maniacs.

Even more frightening, our own leaders joined the circus. Marching to the beat of international drummers, they uncoupled themselves from the will of the people they were elected to serve.

President Obama, for whom I voted because I believed he was the best choice available, is a profound disappointment. I now regard his campaign as a sly bait-and-switch operation, promising one thing and delivering another. Shame on me.

Equally surprising, he has become an insufferable bore. The grace notes and charm have vanished, with peevishness and petty spite his default emotions. His rhetorical gifts now serve his loathsome habit of fear-mongering.

“Time is running out,” he says, over and again. He said it on health care, on the stimulus, in Copenhagen, on Iran.

Instead of provoking thought and inspiring ideas, the man hailed for his Ivy League nuance insists we stop thinking and do what he says. Now.

His assertion we will go bankrupt unless Congress immediately adopts the health monstrosity marks a new low. At least it did until he barged into a meeting in Copenhagen to insult the Chinese with the same do-it-now arrogance on carbon emissions.

Don’t get me wrong — it’s OK to insult the Chinese, but save it for an urgent life-and-death issue. Iran qualifies, with its plans for a nuclear arsenal, yet Obama has not pushed China on that issue with the fervor of his attacks on their dirty smokestacks.

Emphasis mine.

We need more people to wake up. And with the polls consistently dropping, it seems they are.

It’s a long time until 2012, but it seems more and more possible that Barry may be a one hit wonder.

Rock the Vote: No Healthcare, No Sex

Rock the Vote is a supposedly non partisan political organization created to engage young people in the world of politics. From its “About” page:

Rock the Vote’s mission is to engage and build the political power of young people in order to achieve progressive change in our country.

Rock the Vote uses music, popular culture and new technologies to engage and incite young people to register and vote in every election. And we give young people the tools to identify, learn about, and take action on the issues that affect their lives, and leverage their power in the political process.

We are creative, effective, and controlled by nobody’s agenda but our own – we tell it like it is and pride ourselves on being a trusted source for information on politics. We empower the 45 million young people in America who want to step up, claim their voice in the political process, and change the way politics is done.

They make it very clear who their target audience is. And one of the tools they are suggesting to their target audience is using sex as a way to influence political opinion. Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters writes:

The political advocacy group “Rock the Vote” has a new video out encouraging young people to abstain from having sex with folks opposed to healthcare reform.

Sadly, this isn’t your run of the mill call for celebacy, for the video also instructs youth to use sex to get people to change their minds on this issue.

Here’s the video, describing ways young people can use sex, or the refusal of sex, as a means to an end:

Sister Toldjah wants to know:

Where’s the outrage from NOW over the fact that this video encourages women to use their bodies in cheap attempts at trying to sell ObamaCare?

Great question. What I found most profound is the further degradation of intercourse to now being a tool of local politics. I know that some may think me naive, but I’m not talking about sending some skank hookers to a city councilman for a new road tube, but the presentation to young people that sex is so random that you won’t know the politics of your lover until it’s go time.

Be a whore for health reform. Nice message.

What do you think?

Chavez Attacks Capitalism, Eco-Marxists Go Wild

I realize on some blogs this is old news, but this is the first chance I’ve had this week to comment on it.  I thought it was very important.

For all of those liberals who have decried my use of the term “Eco-marxists” in the past, there is no more room for criticism.

Hugo Chavez, socialist dictator of Venezuela, brought down the house in Copenhagen when he
paraphrased Karl Marx
.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world,
the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was
deafening.

But then he wound up to his grand conclusion – 20 minutes after his 5 minute speaking time was supposed to have ended and after
quoting everyone from Karl Marx to Jesus Christ – “our revolution seeks to help all people…socialism, the other ghost
that is probably wandering around this room, that’s the way to save the planet, capitalism is the road to hell….let’s fight
against capitalism and make it obey us
.” He won a standing ovation.

Here’s the video:

Chavez also took the time to ridicule our President:

“I don’t think Obama is here yet,” said Mr Chavez.

“He got the Nobel Peace Prize almost the same day as he sent 30,000 soldiers to kill innocent people in Afghanistan.”

To Chavez, dithering Obama is a warmonger. Chavez knows his crowd, and how to work them into a leftist frenzy, doesn’t he?

Two other socialists of note spoke in Copenhagen.
Evo Morales of Bolivia said, “Climate change isn’t a problem of technology or financing. It’s an issue of way of life and a
result of the capitalist system and if we don’t understand that then we’re never going to resolve these problems.”

And what would a gathering of Marxists be without brutal dictator Robert Mugabe telling the rest of us how to run a country:

The anti-capitalist theme was picked up on by Mr Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s veteran President, who is the target of Western sanctions
over alleged human rights abuses.

“When these capitalist gods of carbon burp and belch their dangerous emissions, it’s we, the lesser mortals of the
developing sphere who gasp and sink and eventually die.”

The 85-year-old said industrialised countries in the northern hemisphere which bore historical responsibility for global warming
showed none of the zeal for punishing ‘eco-offenders’ that they did for abusers of human rights.

“Why is the guilty north not showing the same fundamentalist spirit it exhibits in our developing countries on human rights
matters on this more menacing threat of climate change?” he said.

“Where are its sanctions for eco-offenders? When a country spits on the Kyoto Protocol by seeking to shrink from its diktats, or
by simply refusing to accede to it, is it not violating the global rule of law,” he added in reference to the core emissions
treaty which the US has refused to sign.

The eco-Marxists at Copenhagen ate this tripe up. There were no jeers of the idea that socialism is the answer to global warming. It was
an accepted fact that capitalism is the evil killing the planet.

If there was ever a doubt that socialist revolution was the driving force behind the global warming scam, it should be erased following
the diatribes of these three leftist dictators.

Woman Murders Newborn, State Says It Wasn't Really A Life

It’s hard to believe this is going on in America.

A woman in Virginia gives birth. While the umbilical cord is still attached to the placenta, and the placenta is still inside her, she smothers the baby, killing it.

The state finds itself unable to prosecute the woman because the liberal establishment has the government too intimidated to call it “murder.”

A loophole in state law is preventing Campbell County investigators from charging a woman they say killed her newborn baby.

Deputies were called to a home in the 1200 block of Lone Jack Road in Rustburg around 11:00a.m. Friday. The caller said a woman in her early 20s was in labor. When deputies arrived, they discovered the baby had actually been born around 1:00a.m., about ten hours earlier. Investigators say the baby was already dead when deputies got there.

Investigators tell WSLS the baby’s airway was still blocked. They say the baby was under bedding and had been suffocated by her mother. Investigators say because the mother and baby were still connected by the umbilical cord and placenta, state law does not consider the baby to be a separate life. Therefore, the mother cannot be charged.

“In the state of Virginia as long as the umbilical cord is attached and the placenta is still in the mother, if the baby comes out alive the mother can do whatever she wants to with that baby to kill it.“, says Investigator Tracy Emerson. “She could shoot the baby, stab the baby. As long as it’s still attached to her in some form by umbilical cord or something it’s no crime in the state of Virginia.“

The article claimed the father was upset when he found out the next morning. She wasn’t alone in this.

It also said she had received prenatal care. She was trying to keep the baby healthy.

What in the world made her do this?

The law enforcement community has tried to get the law changed, lobbying legislators to close the loophole. They were too scared:

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office worked unsuccessfully to get the law changed after another baby died in the county in a similar case. Emerson says they asked two delegates and one state senator to take the issue up in the General Assembly. He says the three lawmakers refused because they felt the issue was too close to the abortion issue.

The baby was full term. It was alive when it was born. But because these three COWARDS were too scared to upset Planned Parenthood and the rest of the liberal, pro-abortion advocates, this little girl died and there’s no repercussions for it.

This is all very difficult to stomach, and harder to believe. But regardless of the asinine attempts of some to claim they understand the state laws of Virginia better than the law enforcement personnel and legislators in that state, this is going on.

In my opinion, this woman is no better than an animal that kills its young right after birth. The only difference is she didn’t eat it.

How Did I End Up In the Middle of a Blog War?

I was going through my vast amount of email when I hit a Google Alert for Duane Lester. Now, I set up two brand specific Google Alerts a few months back in order to keep tabs on when two specific terms were used: “Duane Lester” and “All American Blogger.”

If you are a blogger and you are not doing this, you should seriously consider doing it. Here’s how and why.

So, usually the Google Alert links to a post I wrote or a tweet I sent, but this time it was very different. This time someone was writing about me.

The first hit was from American Power, Donald Douglas’ blog. He wrote about my welcome of the now dead blog, Neoconstant to our now near dead blogroll:

As Duane Lester points out at his post, “New to the Blogroll: Neoconstant“:

A great writer and Newsvine friend of mine, E.D. Kain, has a blog that I have added to our blogroll. If you get a chance, check out Neoconstant.

Here’s a sample of what you can find there:

I am overwhelmed by the excitement emanating from the Right on this. Not just social conservatives either! Secular cons and moderates are happy as can be, regardless of Palin’s stance on abortion. I think many people realize that its more of a symbolic stance these days than anything. This isn’t to say she doesn’t stand by her pro-Life positions. I just personally think it is and should be a non-issue. I’m more interested in about a million other things like the economy and our defense, two things Palin has shown wisdom on.

Women, especially, regardless of lefty-pundits claims to the contrary, are extremely happy about this choice.

Now, as a man, I have to say, I don’t blame them! I’m already in love with her whole family.

Gee, it certainly sounds like Governor Palin’s ready for the national spotlight after all. And not just that, the ladies love her!

Now, since we don’t have a link to NeoConstant (the blog being deleted, conveniently, it turns out), perhaps E.D. Kain can verify for us whether this discussion is accurate. WOULDN’T WANT TO SLANDER ANYONE, YOU KNOW!! That’s right, perhaps another writer at NeoConstant showed such concern for the Oprah Winfrey demographic! Of course, Duane’s using the passage as an example of E.D.’s “great” writing.

Wow! That’s fairly intense.

Sounds like one heck of a blog war.

It was just a couple days later that my name popped up on another blog, The Blog of Walker:

Donald,

… (I skipped a lot. Click the link to read the whole letter.)

But I also think that this bad blood needs to end. You can’t keep this up. Like I said, I’ve maintained good relationships with many of the writers from Neoconstant despite our disagreement on the issues. (Walker, Beaman, Courtney, etc. etc.) I still consider them my friends as far as internet friends go. I’d still defend them even despite our disagreements. I’m still on good terms with Duane Lester at All American Blogger – again, despite our disagreements. Duane’s a good guy.

You got that right!

I don’t pretend to know enough about this situation to take sides, so I won’t. I did, however, want to provide a good illustration why it’s important to monitor your brand on the Intertoobs.

If you don’t, you might miss a boatload of drama.

Here’s to this blog war being over so everyone can focus on Charles Johnson and Andrew Sullivan.

And the Winner of the 2009 All American Christmas Contest is…

AL_American!

AL_American sent me a message to collect his winnings. He wrote:

How cool is this?!?!

You did more than just get me to follow your site…
You also motivated me to take the plunge and start a Twitter account!
As one of those forty-somethings that thought that it was a waste of time… I resisted.
But since I opened the account, I am amazed at the quality of timely information Twitter avails you!

I discovered your site looking for like-minded bloggers and found a kindred spirit!
I am eternally grateful….

Thank you so much!
I can’t wait ’til the prize package arrives!

This is one of the goals I had when designing this contest. I really wanted to get more conservatives sitting on the Twitter fence to get involved. I know now that it was effective.

Soon I’ll have a post looking at some of the other goals I had and see how it worked out.

Congratulations to AL_American and thanks to everyone who participated. But most importantly, here’s to everyone having a Merry Christmas.

What Do You Do When a 250 MPH Funny Car is Rolling Towards You? Keep Snapping Pictures

I joined the Navy because I wanted to be a photographer. I really love the way a single second in time can have such a profound impact on people when they view it, pondering what it was like when it was taken.

Today I saw these photos and thought, “That guy has either nerves of steel or a death wish.”

Either way, he took some great shots.

How it happened: As Drag racer Steve Gassparelli accelerated away from the line his ‘funny car’ suddenly veered to the right.

There was nothing more Gassparelli could do but sit tight and hope the fuel-laden dragster did not explode.

With the 250mph funny car heading straight for him, Willsheer calmly snapped away – even though other photographers were running in the opposite direction.

So how close did the car get to him? Here’s the closest shot he took:

Look at the rest here. Just some great pictures.

Man Defends Family, Goes to Jail, Attacker Goes Free

If a man broke into my house and held my family hostage, I have every right to get a weapon, including a gun, and defend them. If I kill them in the process, so be it.

In Great Britain, you go to jail:

Munir Hussain, 53, and his family were tied up and told to lie on the floor by career criminal Waled Salem, who burst into his home with two other masked men.

Mr Hussain escaped and attacked Salem with a metal pole and a cricket bat. But yesterday it was the businessman who was starting a prison sentence for his ‘very violent revenge’.

Very violent? OK, maybe he went a bit over the top. What exactly did the court say he did that qualifies as “very violent?”

Mr Hussain’s nightmare began on September 3 last year when he, his wife, 18-year-old daughter and two sons aged 18 and 15 returned from their mosque during Ramadan to find three intruders in their home in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

They were tied up and told to get on the floor if they did not want to be killed. One of Mr Hussain’s sons managed to escape and alerted Mr Hussain’s younger brother Tokeer, 35, who lived a few doors away.

Mr Hussain made a break for freedom by throwing a coffee table at his attackers. He and Tokeer chased the gang and brought Salem to the ground in a front garden.

Reading Crown Court heard how Mr Hussain and his brother then beat Salem while he lay on the ground, using a cricket bat, a pole and a hockey stick – leaving him with a fractured skull and brain damage following the ‘sustained’ attack.

Did they read how Salem threatened the man’s wife, daughters and sons with DEATH after tying them up in his own house? I mean, he didn’t kill the dirtbag. He beat him into submission. I don’t know that this is over the top.

Munir was sentenced to 30 months. His brother got 39, because “the judge said he had not faced as much provocation as his brother.”

Salem? No time in jail.

Another thing about this story I found difficult to believe was this:

During mitigation a number of letters from Daily Mail readers who had supported a campaign against the businessman’s conviction were read to the judge.

How are letters to the editor relevant to a legal matter? How does that fit into the judicial system in the once Great Britain? It seems to me that it bears very little merit to the whole process. Who cares what a bunch of readers think? What does the law say?

Thank God for the Castle Doctrine. I know what the law says and know what to expect if ever, God forbid, this happens to my family.

Zero Tolerance Files: Second Grader Sent Home For "Violent" Picture of Christ on the Cross, Psych Eval Required by School

For a class project, a Taunton second grade class was asked to make a Christmas drawing. One of the students drew a picture of Jesus on the cross. The teacher, upon seeing the picture, replied that it was an important part of the story of Christ and shared his picture with the class.

Just kidding, he got the boy sent home for drawing a violent picture, plus a mandatory psych eval, at the parent’s expense:

A Taunton father is outraged after his 8-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after drawing a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.200912152046.jpg

The father said he got a call earlier this month from Maxham Elementary School informing him that his son, a second-grade student, had created a violent drawing. The image in question depicted a crucified Jesus with Xs covering his eyes to signify that he had died on the cross. The boy wrote his name above the cross.

The boy is categorized as a special needs child, but the father says he’s never been violent.

Personally, I think the teacher needs a psych eval. For a person to look at this picture drawn and see a threat requires some very abnormal thinking.

The story takes a turn to for the worse when the father plays the race card:

Johnson, who is black, told WBZ he suspects racism is involved. He said he thinks the school overreacted and wants an apology.

Dude, Obama is president now. It’s a post racial America. Didn’t you get that memo?

Seriously, this isn’t about race. It’s about laziness and fear. School administrators find themselves afraid to make a decision and instead lean on zero tolerance rules instead of common sense.
