Southern Border: “We found illegals from Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen in custody.”

The liberal talking point is that anyone who wants increased border security is a racist who hates Mexicans. It’s a bit more complex than that, however:

So with all this going on, why are the liberals trumpeting racism rather than joining with the right and demanding the federal government secure the border and protect the citizens from invasion?

Well, first of all, they are more concerned with securing the rapidly increasing Mexican vote. With millions of illegals streaming into the country, they want to paint the conservatives as racists. It’s easy for them since it is an argument not based on fact but emotion and doesn’t take a lot of brain power to espouse. This meme, that conservatives are racist, breeds among the non-thinkers because they refuse to accept there might just be another reason.

Secondly, traditionally people south of the border, and I’m not just referring to Mexico, are more open to leftist thinking. Look at the history of socialism in Latin America. This makes them a very desirable group for liberals, since their platform is 90 percent socialist anyway. The more people open to socialism the better as far as they are concerned. They have a country to reinvent.

What do you think? Why do Democrats/liberals trumpet concern for border security as racism? What did I miss?

US Expanding Border Patrol…on the Canadian Border

While the federal government ignores its Constitutionally mandated obligation to protect its citizens in Arizona from invasion, it is spending millions to expand a border crossing on the Canadian border that gets maybe two visitors an hour.

No, really. It’s so slow, the Border Patrol bring golf clubs to work to practice their drive:

At the Morses Line Port of Entry, on the U.S.-Canada border, the border station is located smack-dab in the middle of a Vermont dairy farm.

On average, 2½ cars pass through an hour. The pace is so slow that U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents who man the station have been known to fill their days by driving golf balls in an adjoining meadow, shooting skeet or washing their cars. Some here think the World War II-era brick structure that houses the border station should be abandoned.

Not the U.S. Department of Homeland Security: The government, which received $420 million from the federal bailout to modernize land ports like this, wants to spend about $7 million to build an expanded station. To do it, the government says, it needs an adjoining 4.9-acre parcel now used to grow hay and corn.

Owners of the Rainville dairy farm were told last week that if they won’t sell the hayfield for $39,500, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will use eminent domain to seize it.

Not only are the spending millions where it isn’t needed, they are looting a working farm to do it. Meanwhile, you have this concerning the southern border:

A top Department of Homeland Security official reportedly said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.

John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, made the comment during a meeting on Wednesday with the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper reports.

Bass ackward.

ICE May Not Process Illegal Immigrants Referred from Arizona

Rather than do what they are Constitutionally mandated to do (see Article 4, Section 4 in your pocket Constitution), the Obama Administration may simply refuse to process illegal immigrants referred by the state of Arizona:

A top Department of Homeland Security official reportedly said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.

John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, made the comment during a meeting

on Wednesday with the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper reports.

“I don’t think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution,” Morton told the newspaper.

The best way to reduce illegal immigration is through a comprehensive federal approach, he said, and not a patchwork of state laws.

The law, which criminalizes being in the state illegally and requires authorities to check suspects for immigration status, is not “good government,” Morton said.

No, letting millions of people cross our border and take advantage of our welfare state, that’s good government.

The Arizona law was passed as a result of inaction on the part of the federal government. If they refuse to process illegal immigrants referred to them, then I suggest Arizona Governor Jan Brewer activate the national guard, man the border with them and send the bill to the federal government. This is no different than the BP oil geyser. The federal government made this mess. They should pay to clean it up. You could take it out of federal tax receipts.

And the illegals found in Arizona? Start deporting them to California.

Charles Krauthammer Slams Obama's Refusal to Stand Up For America

Obama stands with Mexico against America. It’s that simple:

Hat Tip: Freedom’s Lighthouse

I love the line at the end.

The sad fact is, it isn’t just Obama that is siding with Mexico against not only Arizona, but America and its people who want secure borders. Cassy Fiano shows how all Congressional Democrats gave President Filipe Calderon a STANDING OVATION when he started aping the leftist talking points, aka lies, on the Arizona law.

I know Democrats who support securing the border and who are against illegal immigration. You know who you are and yes, I am talking to you. Do you see your party leadership supporting a foreign leader trashing America?

Do you see that the Democrat party isn’t the party it used to be, but has been taken over by open border leftists?

If not, then there’s no hope in opening your eyes.

Illegals Hold Protest in McCain's Office, Now Face Deportation

There is a lot to be said about keeping a low profile. Trust me, I know.

There are times when it is safe to be all out there, stirring the pot and watching the results.

Then there are times to keep you eyes down and move along quietly.

If you are in the country illegally, and you are in Arizona, this is one of those times.

You don’t, under any circumstances, grab the spotlight with both hands and shine it directly on yourself.

Being young, Iranian Mohammad Abdollahi, probably doesn’t have the experience to know the difference, which is why, as an illegal immigrant, he dressing in his graduation cap and gown and staged a sit in in Sen. John McCain’s office in Tucson.

Now he faces deportation:

The gay Ann Arbor, Michigan, resident, who was brought to the United States illegally when he was 3, now faces deportation to a country he has never known and where homosexuality is a capital crime.

The students, who were allowed to peacefully protest inside the McCain offices all day, were ultimately arrested by local police for criminal trespassing and later transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody. Officials released the trio from detention late Tuesday and initiated deportation proceedings for the weeks ahead.

Again, he really should have seen this coming.

So what’s his beef?

“It’s not only Sen. McCain we’re looking for and holding accountable, there’s senators all across the country we’re holding accountable,” Abdollahi said. “We’re telling them you’ve been asking for a long time for somebody to step up and take leadership on this — none of you have been willing to do so — so as non-citizens, we’ve taken that lead.”

“McCain was supportive of the Dream Act in the past… we saw him as a champion in some ways, and we hope that comes back,” said Abdollahi.

He wants the government to pass legislation allowing illegal immigrants who were brought here as children to have a pathway to citizenship.

Actually, I’m cool with that. There needs to be a program for kids who were brought here before they had any say in the matter.

But in due time. First things first.

Secure the border. Then we’ll talk.

Arizona Sheriff's Deputy Shot By Alleged Illegal Immigrant

Via CNN:

Here’s more:

Pinal County is between Phoenix and Tucson and has been described as a key transit point for illegal immigrants and drug traffickers. Sheriff Paul Babeu said an estimated 80 percent of illegal immigrants eventually pass through his county along the way to other locations.

Earlier this week, a CNN crew spent 12 hours on patrol with Pinal County deputies. In that time, the deputies captured more than 50 suspected illegal immigrants and about 2,000 pounds of marijuana.

Deputies in the department routinely patrol for illegal immigrants and smugglers, and it is not uncommon for them to be in the field alone, officials said.

I wonder if Shakira is going to visit this officer and tell him he shouldn’t have been out there racially profiling people. Or if Ricky Martin will go out to tell him to put a stop to the hate.

ICE Tells Sheriff Joe One Thing, The Media Another

This Saturday I linked to an article that wondered why the Feds ordered Sheriff Joe to release 25 illegal aliens.

The three-day sweep caught up 74 suspected illegal aliens. However, when the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office called ICE regarding the recently arrested illegal aliens, the agency ordered deputies to release all who did not have a criminal conviction in the U.S.

According to a report from Judicial Watch, this constituted a violation of the partnership agreement, known as 287(g), that the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department has had with ICE for two years.

The mystery order resulted in at least 25 of those caught in the sweep being detained for a few days – only to be released without being deported by ICE.

ICE came out after this story broke and said they didn’t have anything to do with those folks going free, that is was all Joe. They even issued a statement.

“the determination to release these individuals lies solely within the [sheriff's office]…. [On July 23], ICE gave the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office permission to interview the three individuals in question, arrest, and initiate removal proceedings — instead Sheriff Arpaio released them.”

Joe’s deputies, and the audio they taped while talking to ICE, tell a different story:

Homeland Security’s story doesn’t pan out. The sheriff’s deputies taped the calls to ICE. The recordings show that ICE repeatedly refused permission to take custody of the illegals.

“Right now we cannot authorize you to take her into custody,” an ICE official said to one deputy about a woman who had admitted to being illegal. On another call, ICE said: “The only way we can [authorize detainment] is if he has a criminal record.” A frustrated deputy replied, “We’re just gonna kick him loose then.” ICE said: “OK.”

ICE told them to let the illegal aliens go free. Immigration and Customs Enforcement told them to let illegal aliens go. Um, guys, it’s right there in the title. Immigration…Enforcement.

Maybe they need to re-read their motto:

“Protecting National Security and Upholding Public Safety”

How can you do either one of those if you are instructing local law enforcement to catch and release?

For those in the “Protecting National Security and Upholding Public Safety” business, here’s a few headlines:

There’s no shortage of these, ICE, so how about this: DO YOUR FREAKING JOB!
