Bachmann Campaign “Rude, Unprofessional, Dishonest, and At Times Cruel,” Claims Former NH Worker

I didn’t think the Bachmann campaign was doing that well, but I didn’t think they were candidates for “Horrible Bosses 2.” According to a letter released by former New Hampshire campaign workers, they were downright cruel:

The former New Hampshire staff of Rep. Michele Bachmann – all five of whom resigned their posts last week – released a stinging statement Monday, accusing some of the congresswoman’s national campaign staff of being “rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and at times cruel.”

The open letter gives a lengthy and forceful critique of Bachmann’s national staff, saying the team was not responsive to communications from New Hampshire, and had requested in September that New Hampshire staffers temporarily “go off payroll” then never clarified their employment status.

The statement also accuses the national team of being dogged by “chaos” and “shifting strategies” and treating the New Hampshire staffers as “second-class citizens.”

At the event in Iowa Saturday, Bachmann showed up late and had no campaign table for voters. It was, overall, a bad showing. I have to wonder if her ground game in Iowa is as dismal as New Hampshire.

Wayne Newton Endorses Michelle Bachmann

Last night after the debate, Michelle Bachmann got some Vegas love from icon Wayne Newton:

“I am an entertainer but first of all, I’m an American and second of all, I’m a Nevadan, and third of all, I will support this beautiful lady as long as she wants to go,” Newton said.

“I watched the entire debate, and I don’t have to tell you how proud I was of this lady because not only did she hold her own, but she kind of stood alone, and I’m not talking about being female,” said Newton, who was in the hall where the debate took place. “I’m talking about the wonderful things and views that she has for America.”

“It’s going to take electing this beautiful lady as president for things to really change because what it means is we have to get everybody back to work and we have to get people back in their homes,” Newton said.

Asked if she’d be cruising the strip looking for additional celebrity endorsements, Bachmann said: “Hey, why not?” she said.

It would have been a whole lot cooler if she had just said, “First, I just wanted to say to Wayne, “Danke shoen.”

Bachmann Leads Romney in Iowa By Four Points

Rep. Michele Bachmann has taken the lead away from Gov. Mitt Romney in the Hawkeye state. In just a month, she has entered the race, won a debate, given a few speeches and now unseated the supposed shoe-in for the nomination.

Not bad:

Meanwhile, Bachmann — who announced her candidacy in her Iowa hometown of Waterloo late last month and launched her first television ad campaign in the Hawkeye State last week — shows no signs of slowing down in Iowa. In the new poll, she received the highest favorability rating of the candidates, with 76 percent having a favorable opinion of her and 11 percent having an unfavorable one, for a net rating of +65. Romney has a net rating of +41 (66 percent to 25 percent), placing him behind Pawlenty and Cain. Pawlenty placed second to Bachmann in the category, with 60 percent having a favorable view of him and 12 percent reporting an unfavorable view (for a net rating of +48).

Bachmann arrived in Urbandale, Iowa, on Saturday to open her state campaign headquarters, and she will tour a manufacturing plant in Indianola on Monday afternoon, according to her campaign. Cain and Gingrich will be in Iowa Monday as well.

Despite the media’s best efforts to “Palienate” her from the voters, Iowans seem to be able to think for themselves, which comes as much a surprise to me as it does to you.

Now, I will go try to explain to my Iowan wife that that last line was just a joke.

By the way, here’s the video Bachmann released for Iowa:

AIM: Are the Media Building Up Bachmann to Bring Down Romney? [Video]

AIM on Facebook | Twitter

From Accuracy in Media‘s Don Irvine:

In an interview at the RightOnline conference last weekend conservative author and commentator S.E. Cupp said that the recent praise heaped upon Michele Bachmann by the liberal media is part of a plan to make her public enemy number one.

Cupp said that she found it worrisome that the media is now realizing how great Bachmann is because it means that “any praise, any legitimacy that the liberal media is giving to Bachmann or anyone else just  means that she is about to become public enemy number one.for them ” and that she is going to become a “huge target” and that they are really going to lambaste her.

I said as much last week in a blog post on how Chris Matthews had gone from asking her if she was “hypnotized” and calling her a ‘balloon head” to saying that she was great after the last Republican presidential debate.

This supposed change of heart hasn’t gone totally unnoticed by other conservatives.

On Fox News Watch This past Saturday conservative columnist Cal Thomas reinforced that view:

“The Left likes to build up people in order to tear them down. One of my favorite lines on this was that ’she exceeded expectations.’ Well, who set the expectations? The media did. . . . Chris Matthews praises her, which is sort of like getting a civil rights affirmation from David Duke.”

Matthews can’t seem to stop fawning over Bachmann even telling fellow liberal Bill Maher that “She’s my hero” and that she’s “going all the way” in reference to her presidential run.

The latest example is that last night on Hardball Matthews told his guests that he thought that Bachmann would knock Romney off while devoting much of his program to comparing Republican front-runner Mitt Romney to an  Emperor Who Has No Clothes.

Can it be any more obvious that Matthews is now doing his level best to eliminate Obama’s toughest potential opponent in Romney and replace him with Bachmann who he believes if nominated will be much easier for the president to defeat next year?

AIM: Media Gives Schumer a Pass While Attacking Palin and Bachmann

From Accuracy in Media‘s Don Irvine:

Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann have become common fodder for Chris Matthews and the gang at MSNBC in particular, but when Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) committed a gaffe on Sunday they were deathly silent. Matthews, who has cited Palin over 400 times in the last couple of years (and not in a positive way), has now turned his attention to Bachmann by calling the Minnesota Congresswoman a “zombie” or “balloon head.”

Fox’s Megyn Kelly discussed whether or not all the attention of the gaffes made by Palin and Bachmann were due to sexism or some other type of bias:

AIM: MSNBC Earns its Low Ratings Yet Again

From Accuracy in Media:

With nearly three full cycles of media coverage in the aftermath of the terrible shooting in Tucson, we have seen it all. Both sides have successfully denied direct blame for the incident. Most Americans don’t buy that rhetoric of any kind caused the violence. Even The View rode to the defense of Sarah Palin. How can partisan media types keep the fire going? Not-so-slick editing could work. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, not typically known for uttering enlightening statements, tried his hand at some audio editing at the expense of Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (R-MN).
